The First One

This journal started--as so many projects do--over drinks and cigars. As a grad student I was frustrated by the process of journal shopping my first first-author article, and during a bout of daydreaming when I should have been dissertating, I had imagined a way to end journal shopping. Later, inspired in no small part by the smoky back room milieu at a cigar bar in DC, I told my old friend Josh about my idea. Josh, a veteran developer and startup founder, is like me: someone who daydreams of iconoclasty and regicide. In short, we like to [mess stuff] up.

I can't wait to see our first article. I can't wait to see, not who will fire the first shot of the revolution, but who will be first to take up a shovel and break new ground.
